Saudi Arabia temporarily closed its 1,200km East-West pipeline on Sunday following a drone attack.
The pipeline transports 4 to 5 million barrels of oil daily. This volume represents approximately 5% of the total global oil supply.
The route serves as a critical bypass for the Strait of Hormuz, which has remained largely closed for six months. Reports also emerged of a separate projectile attack on a shipping vessel within the Strait.
Satellite imagery confirmed the strike, showing smoke rising from a section of the pipeline. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Oil prices currently exceed $100 per barrel. Analysts expect the closure to drive prices higher as Middle East tensions escalate.
