Tesla and LG Energy Solution are investing $4.3 billion in a new battery plant in Lansing, Michigan. This facility aims to strengthen the domestic clean energy supply chain amid the global oil crisis.

The plant will produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic cells. These cells will power Tesla’s Megapack 3 grid-scale energy storage systems.

Partners announced the agreement during the Indo-Pacific Energy Security Summit. The project focuses on improving energy security and reducing reliance on foreign battery sources.

This capital commitment addresses ongoing volatility in traditional energy markets. The move signals a long-term strategy to meet rising demand for domestically-sourced grid storage solutions.
