WordPress.com, which powers over 40% of the web, now allows AI agents like ChatGPT and Claude to manage customer websites. This update enables these agents to autonomously create, edit, and publish content through natural language conversations.
The new functionality allows users to bypass the traditional WordPress dashboard. AI agents can now perform tasks such as drafting posts and updating existing pages based on direct instructions.
This feature extends the platform's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which previously only allowed agents to read site data. Automattic has implemented safeguards requiring explicit user confirmation before any AI-driven actions are executed.
