Walmart’s Sam’s Club is rapidly expanding and succeeding in the Chinese market, outpacing its primary competitor, Costco. The membership-based warehouse now operates around 60 stores in China. This marks a significant increase from 39 locations just three years ago, establishing Sam’s Club as a leading player in the region’s retail sector.
This growth translates into substantial financial gains for Walmart’s international division. Total sales in China jumped nearly 22% during the third quarter. Sales reached $6.1 billion, making China Walmart's fastest-growing international market.
The brand’s strong performance contributes significantly to Walmart’s global revenue. The largest Sam’s Club locations in China reportedly generate over $500 million in annual sales.
