Wolfspeed, Inc. announced a strategic expansion into the data center market with the formation of a new, dedicated solutions team and an office in the San Francisco Bay Area. This initiative is designed to more closely collaborate with leading hyperscalers, ODMs, and the broader ecosystem to develop specialized products for AI and other data center applications.
The company emphasized that the immense power demands of AI computing require a fundamental change in data center power architecture, making a shift to higher voltages a necessity. Wolfspeed aims to leverage its silicon carbide technology to provide high-voltage power solutions that significantly reduce energy loss and improve efficiency for modern AI infrastructure.
To lead this new team, Wolfspeed has appointed Ganesh Srinivasan as Senior Vice President. Srinivasan brings extensive experience from his time at TE Connectivity and Texas Instruments, where he worked closely with hyperscalers and the ODM ecosystem on power solutions for high-density AI clusters.
