Archer Aviation signed a definitive agreement to acquire three Boeing subsidiaries: air taxi developer Wisk Aero, drone-maker Insitu, and airspace management firm SkyGrid. The transaction aims to create an end-to-end physical AI platform for the aerospace and defense sectors. Boeing will also make a new investment in Archer and collaborate on future technology development.
The deal adds Insitu to Archer’s portfolio, a defense business generating over $200 million in annual revenue. Insitu currently maintains operations in 35 countries. This combination vertically integrates key technologies for autonomous flight and advanced air mobility.
Archer expects the consolidation to accelerate development and certification timelines. This move expands Archer’s presence in the defense market and alters the competitive landscape for autonomous aviation.
