The U.S. Department of War (DoW) partnered with Boeing and RTX on framework agreements to increase production of Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IB and Block IIA interceptors. These ship-launched munitions are the primary components of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System. The move aims to accelerate the delivery of critical munitions to the naval fleet.
Under Secretary of War Michael P. Duffey stated the agreements stabilize supply chains and place the defense industrial base on a wartime footing. The action addresses depleted stockpiles and prepares for potential large-scale conflict.
This long-term manufacturing commitment will affect the supply chains of companies tracked by the XAR, PPA, and ITA ETFs.
