The U.S. Air Force plans to more than double its procurement of Boeing F-15EX Eagle II jets to a total of 267 aircraft. This expansion follows a previous target of 129 jets. The Fiscal Year 2027 budget proposal allocates $3 billion for an immediate purchase of 24 additional aircraft.
The procurement aims to replace the aging F-15E Strike Eagle fleet currently facing maintenance challenges. The budget proposal includes a request to retire 20 of the oldest F-15E models. The new F-15EX will serve as the direct replacement for these retired units.
This decision is part of the Trump administration’s proposed $1.5 trillion defense modernization budget. The expanded order secures a long-term production path for a major Boeing defense program. This move directly benefits Boeing as a cornerstone of the aerospace and defense sector.
