Lockheed Martin and Korea Aerospace Industries have withdrawn from the U.S. Navy’s Undergraduate Jet Training System (UJTS) competition. The decision follows the issuance of the final request for proposals to replace the aging T-45 Goshawk fleet.

The contract carries an estimated value of over $15 billion. It requires the delivery of up to 216 aircraft. The program also includes a comprehensive training ecosystem of simulators and ground support.

Three remaining teams now vie for the contract: Boeing-Saab, Textron Aviation-Leonardo, and Sierra Nevada Corporation. These competitors will develop the next generation of trainers for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps pilots.
