Raytheon, an RTX business, secured a contract from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to equip the Royal Australian Navy’s new frigates. The agreement provides SeaRAM anti-ship missile defense systems for the Sea3000 program.
Australia will replace its aging Anzac-class frigates with 11 new Upgraded Mogami-class vessels. Raytheon will supply SeaRAM launchers and support for the first three ships constructed in Japan.
The SeaRAM system combines the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System with the Rolling Airframe Missile to provide autonomous defense. This contract marks Australia’s first entry into the global RAM user community.
Production will take place in Louisville, Kentucky. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2028.
