X-energy (NASDAQ: XE) submitted its Xe-100 advanced nuclear reactor for the United Kingdom’s Generic Design Assessment (GDA). This regulatory process evaluates the safety, security, and environmental impact of the High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor technology.

The UK’s Office for Nuclear Regulation and environmental agencies expect to conclude the assessment by late 2029. X-energy is partnering with Centrica to potentially deploy 6 gigawatts of new nuclear energy across the country.

The partners identified Hartlepool as the preferred site for the first plant. This submission advances X-energy’s UK expansion strategy and follows similar licensing progress in the United States.
