Amazon expanded its Amazon Now 30-minute delivery service to dozens more U.S. cities on Tuesday. The expansion adds Austin, Houston, Minneapolis, and Phoenix to a network previously limited to hubs like Atlanta and Dallas. Amazon aims to reach tens of millions more customers through this rollout by the end of the year.
Prime members pay a $3.99 fee per order for the ultra-fast service. Other customers pay a $13.99 fee per delivery.
The expansion scales Amazon's logistics infrastructure, which already provides same-day delivery in thousands of towns. The company also operates drone delivery in nine locations. These fulfillment upgrades increase competitive pressure on other retailers in the sector.
