Amazon Pharmacy now provides same-day delivery for Novo Nordisk’s weight-loss drug Ozempic. The company will also stock the pill version of the medication in its pharmacy kiosks. This service initially covers 3,000 locations. Amazon plans to expand this reach to 4,500 locations by the end of the year.
This initiative follows previous moves to stock other GLP-1 medications like Wegovy. Analysts estimate the U.S. weight-loss drug market could reach 24 million users by 2035. Amazon is leveraging its delivery infrastructure to become a primary distributor in this rapidly growing sector.
The decision increases competitive pressure on established retail pharmacies. Patients with valid prescriptions can access the medication using insurance or cash payments. No subscription to Amazon’s One Medical primary care service is required for these orders.
