Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) has discontinued its AFEELA electric vehicle project. The decision halts development for the AFEELA 1 sedan and a planned second model.
SHM attributed the cancellation to Honda’s recent reassessment of its automobile electrification strategy. This shift prevents the joint venture from utilizing key Honda technologies and assets as originally intended.
The move ends a high-profile collaboration designed to combine Sony’s software and entertainment expertise with Honda’s manufacturing capabilities. SHM will issue full refunds for all existing AFEELA 1 reservations.
Parent companies are currently in discussions regarding the future of the joint venture. The cancellation follows the AFEELA prototype's recent appearances at major technology and automotive trade shows.
