The Dutch vehicle authority (RDW) granted Tesla its first European type approval for Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised. This decision was announced on Friday, April 10, and reported on April 11. The Level 2 autonomous system requires drivers to remain fully attentive and ready to intervene.

The approval follows an extensive 18-month testing period. Tesla vehicles logged over 1.6 million kilometers on European roads during the trial.

Tesla plans to expand the software to Germany, France, and Spain by the summer of 2026. This Dutch approval serves as the foundation for a broader European Union rollout. The expansion provides a significant revenue stream and a competitive advantage in the European electric vehicle market.
