Pluspetrol finalized the acquisition of a 20% stake in two Vaca Muerta joint ventures. The assets include the La Escalonada and Rincón La Ceniza areas. The transaction closed on September 14, 2026. This deal concludes a broader asset swap agreement with Argentina’s state-controlled energy firm, YPF.
The companies signed the original agreement in January. YPF subsidiary Vaca Muerta Inversiones (VMI) transferred the interest to Pluspetrol. This move reduces VMI’s total stake in the ventures to 25%.
Shell remains the operator of both areas with a 45% interest. Pluspetrol now holds a 20% share. The provincial company GyP maintains a 10% stake. These assets are located within the Vaca Muerta shale formation.
