Argentina’s state-owned energy firm YPF S.A. accepted a $780 million offer from Edenor for its utility holdings. The agreement, reached on August 10, 2026, follows a competitive bidding process.
The deal transfers YPF’s 70% controlling stake in gas distributor MetroGAS. It also includes a 5% interest in MetroENERGÍA.
YPF is divesting these assets to prioritize investments in the Vaca Muerta shale formation. This region serves as the core focus for the company’s upstream operations.
The transaction is currently pending customary conditions and regulatory approvals.
