Authorities claim the company paid a 5% concessional rate reserved for older technologies. The agency argues Samsung should have paid a 15% duty on these parts.
The investigation targets premium TVs, which represent a significant growth market for Samsung in India. Samsung maintains that OLED is an advanced LED technology and qualifies for the lower tariff.
Potential penalties for duty evasion can reach 100% of the underpaid amount. Samsung is cooperating fully with the investigation.
