Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) officially launched the TENER Sodium Energy Storage System in Munich, Germany. The system represents the world's first commercially validated sodium-ion energy storage solution.
CATL positioned the technology as a viable alternative to lithium-based systems to stabilize supply chains against price volatility. The system leverages abundant sodium resources while providing enhanced safety and performance in extreme temperatures.
The company targets 1 GWh in cumulative shipments by the end of 2026. International deliveries for the TENER system are scheduled to begin in June 2027.
