CATL officially launched the Xiamen Energy Storage Validation Research Institute (ESVL). The facility represents the world’s largest and most comprehensive testing platform for energy storage. CATL invested approximately 3 billion yuan (US$442.5 million) to develop the site.
The ESVL enables full-scenario, real-world testing for large-scale energy storage projects. This infrastructure helps developers shorten grid-connection cycles and mitigate investment risks. The platform specifically addresses performance gaps between equipment specifications and actual field operations.
CATL intends to raise industry quality standards through this shared validation infrastructure. The initiative supports the company's expansion into the global energy storage market, a key growth sector beyond its core electric vehicle battery business.
