Toyota Motor filed for approval to build a $2 billion manufacturing facility in Bexar County, Texas.
The company submitted the proposal to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts on Friday.
The proposed assembly plant expects to create 2,000 new jobs.
Toyota will locate the facility alongside its existing truck factory.
The move deepens the automaker's manufacturing presence in the United States, its largest market.
