Toyota Motor expects to spend 1 trillion yen ($6.4 billion) annually to modernize its global production network. The company plans to begin this investment cycle in 2028.

The funding covers Toyota, its group companies, and major suppliers to address aging infrastructure and labor shortages. This initiative will deploy approximately 400,000 humanoid and non-humanoid robots across its facilities.

The strategy focuses on automated logistics and human-robot collaboration rather than total workforce replacement. This move aligns with an industry-wide shift toward automation to reduce costs and improve manufacturing efficiency.
