Apple and manufacturing partner Foxconn have started early trial production for a foldable iPhone. This move marks the first tangible progress toward Apple entering the premium foldable smartphone market.

The book-style device features a 7.7-inch internal display. It includes a 5.3-inch external cover screen.

Apple targets a shipment date in the second half of 2026. This development follows the company's 50th-anniversary celebration on April 1st.

The launch will coincide with iOS 27. The software will include optimizations for the new form factor, such as split-screen multitasking.
