Italy’s competition authority, AGCM, opened an investigation into Apple on Tuesday. The probe focuses on potential non-compliance with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act.
Regulators are examining whether Apple unfairly advantages its iCloud service on iOS and iPadOS devices. The AGCM alleges Apple denies third-party cloud providers effective interoperability with its operating systems.
Rival services reportedly cannot perform full data backups using the same features available to iCloud. The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the European Commission.
