Apple is developing a standalone Siri application for iOS 27. Leaked reports indicate the company will unveil the update at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 8.
The strategy aims to compete directly with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. The redesigned Siri will feature a chatbot-style interface supporting both text and voice interactions.
The application will include a conversation history. The system also features deep integration with the Dynamic Island.
Users can reportedly select from third-party AI models within the new system. Privacy-focused features include an option to automatically delete chat history.
