Apple has unveiled a new suite of accessibility features powered by its "Apple Intelligence" AI technology, scheduled for release later this year. A key innovation allows Apple Vision Pro users to control compatible power wheelchairs using eye-tracking. The company also introduced on-device generated subtitles, which can create real-time captions for any video or audio content across its ecosystem.
The AI updates also enhance existing tools. VoiceOver, the screen reader for blind and low-vision users, will provide more detailed descriptions of images and surroundings. Additionally, Voice Control will support natural language commands, making it more intuitive to navigate apps without needing to memorize specific phrases. These updates were announced ahead of Global Accessibility Awareness Day.
