Airbus is investing £150 million ($200 million) to repurpose its former A380 wing factory in Broughton, UK. The facility will produce wings for the A321neo to address a backlog of nearly 5,700 aircraft. The A321neo currently accounts for the majority of all A320 family orders.
Facility conversion will conclude by the end of 2026. The first wing is already in production at the site. The project will create 480 new jobs in Broughton by 2026. Refurbished factory operations will account for 250 of those positions. Airbus aims to reach a production rate of 75 A320 family aircraft per month. The company expects to hit this target in 2027.
