An Air India A320neo dropped 300 feet on August 4, injuring 24 people. The aircraft temporarily lost primary flight controls during the flight from Phuket to Delhi.
All three hydraulic systems registered simultaneous failures during the event. Pilots lost control of pitch and roll for approximately four seconds before the systems recovered.
The plane carried 145 people and landed safely in Delhi. India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau classified the event as a serious incident.
Airbus and the French BEA are providing technical assistance for the probe. Airbus requested additional system and sensor checks as the root cause remains unknown.
