Amazon.com Inc. acquired Amsterdam-based DuckLabs on August 26, 2026. DuckLabs developed the open-source analytical database software DuckDB.
The acquisition aims to improve the speed and cost-efficiency of Amazon Web Services (AWS) analytics. Amazon did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
The DuckDB software remains free and open-source under the independent governance of the non-profit DuckDB Foundation. DuckLabs' co-founders will join AWS to lead the technical direction of the integrated team. The creators will also maintain their leadership roles over the open-source projects.
