Amazon is reportedly in discussions to acquire San Francisco-based AI startup Decart in a deal that could be valued at around $7 billion. Decart makes software that helps developers use and switch between AI chips from Nvidia, Google, and Amazon’s own Trainium. The software can help companies avoid relying on a single hardware provider and optimize performance and costs for AI workloads.
Anthropic had also been in talks to acquire Decart for approximately $6 billion. It abandoned the deal in September 2026 after completing due diligence.
Founded in 2023, Decart was valued at nearly $4 billion in a May 2026 funding round. The round raised $300 million from investors including Nvidia. An acquisition by Amazon could strengthen Decart’s position in the competitive AI and cloud computing landscape.
