Amazon has acquired Rivr, a Zurich-based autonomous robotics startup formerly known as Swiss-Mile, in a move to enhance its automated delivery capabilities. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Rivr specializes in developing quadrupedal, wheeled robots designed to navigate complex urban environments, including stairs, to solve the "last-100-yard" delivery challenge.

The acquisition follows previous investments in the startup from entities associated with Amazon. In an August 2024 seed funding round that raised $22 million, investors included both the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's personal investment firm, Bezos Expeditions. That funding round valued Rivr at approximately $110 million.
