Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google have announced a new, jointly developed multi-cloud networking service. This collaboration is designed to simplify how customers establish private, high-speed connections between the two cloud platforms, cutting the setup time from weeks to minutes. The new offering addresses the growing demand for highly reliable connectivity, a need underscored by a recent major AWS outage. The service integrates Amazon's "Interconnect–multicloud" and Google's "Cross-Cloud Interconnect" technologies to improve network interoperability. This move represents a fundamental shift in multi-cloud connectivity, making it easier for businesses to migrate and manage data and applications across different cloud environments. Google Cloud has noted that Salesforce is among the early adopters of this new service.
