Amazon is reportedly in discussions regarding the future of its partnership with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). The current contract is set to expire next year. The e-commerce giant is considering ending the long-standing relationship to expand its own nationwide delivery network.

This potential move carries significant weight for the U.S. parcel industry. In 2024, Amazon delivered 6.3 billion parcels across the country. The USPS, conversely, relies on the partnership for a substantial portion of its revenue.

The discussions gained attention following a report in The Washington Post, which is owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Amazon maintains it still seeks to resolve the situation, noting that a final decision hinges on contract negotiations. However, creating an independent shipping network to replace the USPS would represent a monumental shift in the domestic delivery landscape.
