Amazon will execute another round of layoffs in January 2026. WARN Act filings indicate the cuts will affect between 1,001 and 2,500 employees.
The job cuts continue Amazon’s previously announced restructuring plan. This strategy aims to control costs, streamline management, and increase the use of artificial intelligence. The current reduction contributes to a larger plan targeting a total cut of around 14,000 corporate roles.
Layoffs are scheduled to begin January 26 in Washington state. Subsequent cuts will follow in California, Virginia, and New Jersey. Amazon is reallocating resources to high-growth areas, particularly AI, to create a leaner structure and remain competitive. The company offers affected employees support to find new internal roles where possible.
