Amazon is expanding its Prime Air drone delivery service to nearly 500 U.S. cities and towns. The company plans to complete this rollout by the end of 2026. This represents a sixfold increase from the current service footprint.

The service provides 30-minute delivery for items weighing under five pounds. New operations will launch in Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Boise, and Syracuse by the end of 2024.

This move transitions the decade-old drone project into a widespread commercial operation. The expansion intensifies competition with Walmart as it builds its own drone delivery network.
