Delivery workers for Amazon and other major online platforms initiated a nationwide strike in India on December 25, 2025. A second strike is planned for December 31.

The Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) and the Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers (IFAT) organized the action. They aim to pressure companies for improved working conditions during the peak holiday period.

Union demands focus on three key areas. Workers seek fair and transparent pay structures that account for effort and operational costs. They also demand an end to unsafe ultra-fast delivery models. Finally, the unions require the implementation of social security benefits, including health insurance and accident cover.

Workers are protesting declining income and long working hours. They cite a lack of basic welfare support within the growing gig economy.
