Amazon is investing €10 billion to expand its German logistics network and cloud infrastructure.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) will receive €8.8 billion of the total funds. The company will use this capital to build and operate cloud infrastructure in the Frankfurt region through 2026. This expansion addresses the surging demand for artificial intelligence technologies.
The investment will create 4,000 new jobs in 2024. Amazon's total permanent workforce in Germany will exceed 40,000 employees. The expansion plan includes the construction of three new fulfillment centers.
This commitment raises Amazon's total planned investment in Germany to €17.8 billion. The total includes a separate project for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
