Amazon has officially launched its generative AI-powered assistant, Alexa+, for all customers in the United States, moving it out of an early access phase. The full-featured version is now included at no additional cost for Prime members and is available as a standalone subscription for $19.99 per month for non-Prime users.
A free, limited version of the Alexa+ chat experience is also available to non-subscribers through the Alexa website and mobile app. The enhanced assistant, powered by large language models from Amazon and Anthropic, offers more conversational and personalized interactions than the original Alexa. This broad rollout is a significant move by Amazon to compete more aggressively with other AI assistants from Google, Apple, and Microsoft.
