Amazon MGM Studios dropped the nearly-completed film Artificial. Luca Guadagnino directed the project starring Andrew Garfield about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

The studio stated the film is better served by a different distributor. Amazon is currently working with filmmakers to find a new studio for the project.

This decision follows Amazon’s $50 billion strategic partnership with OpenAI announced four months ago. Reports suggest the film's tone influenced the studio's move.

The film will now be shopped to other distributors despite receiving positive test screenings.
