Amazon faces a class-action lawsuit in Washington for allegedly withholding hundreds of millions of dollars in customer refunds. The complaint claims the company failed to pass on savings after the Supreme Court ruled certain Trump administration tariffs unauthorized. These levies were originally imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
The lawsuit accuses Amazon of unjust enrichment and violating state consumer-protection laws. Plaintiffs allege the company may have retained the funds to curry favor with the previous administration. The filing cites a 2025 report claiming the White House pressured Amazon not to disclose tariff costs in product prices. Amazon denied that report at the time.
