Amazon announced it is cutting approximately 16,000 corporate positions globally. This marks the second major workforce reduction in three months.

The move follows a previous cut of 14,000 jobs in October 2025. This brings the recent total reduction to around 30,000 positions.

In a memo to employees, the company stated the goal is to streamline the organization. This streamlining involves reducing management layers and bureaucracy.

The reduction will allow for greater investment in artificial intelligence. Amazon currently redirects resources toward AI and large-scale data center expansion.

Amazon did not specify which divisions the cuts would affect most. The layoffs align with a broader trend of corporate reductions as companies pivot toward AI-driven operations.
