India’s Supreme Court overturned a 2019 antitrust ruling against Amazon.

The decision restores Amazon’s investment in Future Coupons which the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had previously revoked.

The court quashed a ₹202-crore penalty imposed on the e-commerce company.

This fine is equivalent to approximately $24 million.

A Bench of Justices ruled that the CCI acted outside its statutory authority.

The judgment stated that regulators should protect competition without undermining market confidence.
