Amazon’s autonomous subsidiary, Zoox, will launch its first commercial robotaxi service in Las Vegas on August 10, 2026.

U.S. federal regulators recently authorized Zoox to charge fares for rides in purpose-built vehicles designed without steering wheels or pedals. This paid service intensifies competition with Alphabet’s Waymo within the autonomous vehicle sector.

Uber will integrate Zoox vehicles into its Las Vegas platform to expand its autonomous network. Uber plans to invest over $10 billion in its autonomous vehicle strategy. The company aims to offer robotaxi services in 15 cities by the end of the year. This platform approach allows Uber to deploy various technologies without manufacturing the vehicles.
