Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments to allow artificial intelligence agents to conduct autonomous transactions. AI agents can now pay for resources such as APIs, web content, and other agents. This feature aims to facilitate the growth of an emerging agentic economy.
AWS partnered with Coinbase and Stripe to provide wallet infrastructure and payment rails. The system focuses on micropayments using USDC stablecoins. It leverages Coinbase’s x402 protocol for instant settlement.
Developers can choose between a Coinbase wallet or a Stripe Privy wallet. Both options support funding via stablecoins or fiat currency.
