Italy’s antitrust authority has substantially cut the fine imposed on Amazon. The penalty was reduced from €1.128 billion to €752.4 million ($878.2 million).

This significant reduction, totaling over €375 million, follows a regional administrative court ruling. The September ruling necessitated a recalculation of the initial amount.

The regulator originally levied the fine in 2021, citing that Amazon abused its dominant position in the market for logistics services. The authority found the company unfairly pushed sellers on its Italian platform to use its 'Fulfillment by Amazon' (FBA) service. This action harmed competing logistics providers and disadvantaged sellers who did not adopt FBA.
