Amazon now requires third-party sellers to identify photorealistic AI-generated people in product images and videos. The company introduced the policy to comply with new legislation mandating disclosure for AI-generated advertisements.

Sellers must embed specific metadata keywords into image and video files before uploading them to listings. Amazon also plans to implement consumer-facing labels, though it has not specified a start date for the feature.

The rule does not apply to fictional characters or AI-altered photos of real people. This new compliance step comes as Amazon continues to market its own generative AI tools to help sellers improve ad performance.
