ASML Holding NV now identifies artificial intelligence as the primary driver for future product sales. This marks a strategic shift from the company’s previous assessment that AI would contribute only a limited portion of demand.

CEO Christophe Fouquet stated in the 2025 annual report that significant AI demand began fueling customer capacity build-up at the end of last year. Fouquet characterized this development as a powerful trend expected to persist.

The broader semiconductor market achieved double-digit expansion despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty. This growth was driven by high demand for AI logic and memory products. ASML concluded 2025 with a business backlog totaling 38.8 billion euros.
