Taiwan's EVA Airways announced its board approved a plan to acquire new aircraft from Boeing. The deal carries a valuation of up to US$1.94 billion.

The agreement specifically includes the purchase of four wide-body Boeing 787-9 planes. EVA Air states the purchase meets growing demand for global expansion and supports long-term operational needs.

Separately, the board approved extending lease contracts for four currently operated Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. This fleet modernization effort occurs as major Taiwanese carriers express optimism regarding passenger and cargo services. This outlook is driven by the AI boom and a focus on the transit market connecting North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
