Berkshire Hathaway CEO Greg Abel, speaking from Tokyo, reaffirmed strong confidence in the company's investments. These include Japan's five largest trading houses: Itochu, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, and Sumitomo. Abel described these holdings as long-term investments. Berkshire intends to maintain them for "many decades."
Berkshire has steadily increased its ownership in these companies. It now holds more than 10% in each. Abel also highlighted potential for further collaboration and transactions with insurer Tokio Marine. Berkshire acquired a 2.49% stake in Tokio Marine in March. Berkshire is actively seeking incremental opportunities with its Japanese partners.
