Caterpillar Escalates Patent War with Bobcat, Filing New Complaints to Block Imports

Caterpillar filed two new patent infringement complaints against rival Doosan Bobcat.

The filings were lodged with the U.S. International Trade Commission and a Delaware federal court.

The actions seek to block the import and sale of Bobcat equipment. Caterpillar alleges the machinery uses its technology without authorization.

The dispute began in late 2025 when Bobcat sued Caterpillar for patent infringement. Caterpillar filed counterclaims in March 2026.

Both manufacturers are using federal courts and trade bodies to protect intellectual property in the compact equipment market.
